There have been many books written about empowering women by getting them out of the home and into the workforce. However, the American Woman’s Home was the first book that empowered women by telling them that being a wife and mother was just as important as any job.
Back in the 1800s, when the book was written, women weren’t allowed to hold most jobs. And that made many women (and men) feel like women were inferior.
The book contained tips of raising children, running a house, and cooking meals all laid out in loving, empowering terms.
It also showed men the high amount of unpaid labor that went into it, making them appreciate their wives.
These newly empowered women realized that they WERE worth something, even if they never worked outside the home. These were the beliefs they passed down to their own children, paving the way for the woman’s liberation movement later.
That’s how her book changed the world. How will your book change the world?
