Creating A Reader Magnet For Fiction Writers

So today I’m going to focus on a book series by Devon and Lauren Royal, but I’m not talking about their books, I’m talking about the brilliant way they build their optin list 

Now, if you’ve been listening to me for a while, you know that I never talk about marketing. I believe that your greatest marketing method is in writing a great next book and making your readers happy. 

However, if you’ve ever done any kind of research into marketing, then you’ve probably heard of a reader magnet. It’s something you give away to build your optin list. 

Most writers, including myself, use a free story for that. 

But the Royals don’t. 

They use an ongoing contest. 

And what exactly are they giving away? 

That’s the brilliant part. 

You see, the Royals write Historical Romance. In the story the guy usually gives the girl a token of his affection laced with meaning for him. It’s all very romantic. It can be a broche, a necklace, a locket, a choker, a ring, bracelet, things like that. 

So what the Royals do is instead of giving away a story, they run a contest for a replica of the jewelry in their book. 

It’s an ongoing contest and it says in the back of every book….

‘Depending on when you enter, the piece of jewelry may change’  In other words, new book equals new object. 

And if you win it, you think of your favorite book and imagine you’re the character in it. 

Talk about getting your reader immersed in your story. 

It’s the best optin I’ve ever seen for novels.

For anything, really. What fan wouldn’t want it?
