Let me know where to send it...
So today I’m going to talk about a book called Mermaid by Jodi Pecoult. I’m going to be honest and say I wasn’t crazy about this book. But since she is a New York Times Best seller, I’m just going to attribute that to the fact that it was literary fiction, one of my least favorite fiction genres, instead of any failing on the author’s part. I much prefer genre fiction, which I’m sure you’ve noticed.
So why am I talking about this story if I wasn’t crazy about it? Simple. I’m not talking about the story at all. I’m talking about the fact that it was published using Kindle In Motion.
So how do they affect the reading experience?
Well, I adore the animated covers and I totally want one. I want one for all my books. Of course an Amazon list filled with just animated covers would get hard on the eyes after a while, but still.
As for the interior of the book…
Well, that’s another story. The pictures were cute and all, but I’m not sure they contributed to my enjoyment of the story. In fact, they might have actually taken away from it.
When I read, I like to have pictures in my head. However, these pictures looked nothing like the ones I had in my head.
I am willing to admit though, that people tell me I’m weird, so it might be just me. You might like the moving pictures fine.
And I still consider this book a great example of Kindle in Motion. I can see how it could definitely add to the story, especially of the one thing I couldn’t’ get a picture of, the author’s name appearing out of nowhere on the front page.
Can’t you just see that in a mystery or thriller where the words just appear out of nowhere?
So if you want to see that along with other Kindle in Motion effect in action, as well as read a what is probably a great literary novel that I’m just not getting, Check out the Mermaid by Jodi Pecoult.
